Standard Operating Procedure
Title: General Safety Information
Dept: Agronomy
Room: G317
Supervisor: Randy Shoemaker
To process FILM:
If the machine is warmed up and turned on, press the black button by tray

before proceeding.

Place the x-ray film on the tray so that the narrowest edge goes in first.

Slide the film along the back edge of the tray so that it will feed in straight.

Do not place anything paper in the machine.

After the first film has been fed through, there will be a beep that indicates that

the processor is ready for the next film. After the beep, you can also turn the

lights on, so long as the cover is on.
The machine must be turned off at night, and after use on weekends.

When it is needed on workdays, it will be turned on at 8:00 am (it will take

20 min. for it to warm up) and off at 5:00 pm. If you need to turn it on or off,

please do the following steps:
To turn ON machine:
Replace cover so that no light will leak into processor.

Turn on the water supply.

Turn on the power switch.

When the red light begins to blink , you can process film.
To turn machine OFF:
Turn off the water supply.
Turn off the power switch.
Place the cover slightly off center, to allow rollers to dry.
When the developer or fixer needs to be added to

(light will go on and there will also be a noise),

inform either Terry, Stephanie, or Charlie from the

Shoemaker's Lab. We will replace it.
