Salary Range of $60,576 to $110,662
The Soybean/Maize Germplasm, Pathology and Genetics Research Unit, Urbana, IL, is seeking a permanent, full-time Research Geneticist (Plants)/Research Plant Pathologist, GS-12/13/14 salary commensurate with experience. The incumbent is responsible for providing scientific research in the management of Asian soybean rust. The incumbent will work with a team of scientists in identifying high-priority, researchable problems using a personal and multidisciplinary team approach to evaluate fungicide application and efficacy; develop integrated management strategies to mitigate losses from Asian soybean rust; identify and evaluate sources of genetic resistance or tolerance; and to develop improved germplasm with resistance or tolerance to Asian soybean rust. The incumbent will be required to publish research results in peer reviewed journals and provide supervision to support technicians and staff. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in the field or a closely related science is desirable. U.S. citizenship required.
