Abstract:Originating as an F4 selection in the cross Centennial √ó Young and released in 1995, this soyabean (Glycine max) cultivar (PI592756) is noted for its excellent seed yields, multiple pest resistance traits and wide adaptation. Dillon is a determinate, maturity group VI cultivar adapted to the southern USA. It averaged slightly higher than Brim in seed yield across 41 environments in USDA Southern Regional Uniform Trials, 1995-96. Dillon is resistant to Meloidogyne incognita and averaged 50% higher in yield than the Hoplolaimus columbus [Basirolaimus columbus]-intolerant cultivar Braxton in South Carolina fields infested with H. columbus. Dillon is also resistant to Xanthomonas campestris pv. glycines, soybean mosaic potyvirus and races of Cercospora sojina prevalent in the southern USA.
