Abstract:Non-fluorescence of soyabean roots under ultraviolet light exposure is controlled by fr genes. Linkage between fr2 and 5 isoenzyme loci was tested by crossing Evans with 2 non-fluorescent mutants derived by ethyl methanesulfonate mutagenesis. No linkage was found between the fr2 locus and diaphorase [dihydrolipoamide dehydrogenase], 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase [phosphogluconate dehydrogenase (decarboxylating)], phosphoglucomutase and phosphoglucose isomerase [glucose-6-phosphate isomerase], whilst possible linkage was detected between fr2 and isocitrate dehydrogenase (Idh). The recombination value between fr2 and Idh was 42.0 ± 4.0.
