Abstract:Phytophthora root rot, caused by Phytophthora sojae Kaufmann Gerdemann, is one of the most important diseases in soybean throughout the world. Deployment of resistant cultivars is the preferred method for controlling this disease. In this study, a dominant Phytophthora resistance gene was identified and mapped by using microsatellite markers. The gene, designated RpsYB30, was identified in soybean cultivar Youbian 30, located on soybean MLG L, and flanked by microsatellite markers Satt497 and Satt313 with genetic distances 4.4 cM and 3.3 cM, respectively. RpsYB30 is a novel Phytophthora resistance gene to be first found on MLG L genes.
