Abstract:In susceptible ? resistant crosses resistance to races 1 and 2 appeared to be controlled by one pair of factors and was partially dominant, whereas the reactions of the progeny of two susceptible varieties suggested two complementary factors. Resistance to race 3 was governed by a single factor pair in the cross Dunfield ? Illini. Two factors Mi2 and MiR', conditioned resistance in the cross Mukden ? Richland, the former factor being epistatic to the latter. Two complementary factors (Mi1 and Mi2) plus MiR conferred resistance in the cross Illini ? Richland. The MiR factor was hypostatic to the others. Independent segregation of the three genes was indicated.
