Title:Neocosmospora stem rot of soybeans in Alabama.
Authors:Gray, F.A., Rodriguez-Kabana, R., Adams, J.R.
Source:Plant Dis. 1980, 64(3):321-322
Abstract:N. vasinfecta was consistently isolated from field plants showing premature senescence, defoliation, root and basal stem rot, and vascular and pith discoloration. Stem injection of glasshouse plants produced a reddish-brown discoloration of the pith. Pith lesions were 8-52 mm long (mean 22 mm). Reddish brown lesions on the outer stem surfaces of several plants did not exceed 20 mm. Pith discoloration was the most frequently observed symptom after 4 weeks.
