Abstract:Four hundred and twenty-five soybean germplasms comprising indigenous and exotic collections as also hybrid derivatives in advance generation, were screened for resistance to the stem fly, Ophiomyia phaseoli (Tryon) under matural infestation during spring-summer 1983. The promising lines were further evaluated in kharif 1983 and spring-summer 1984. The line IC 18736, a collection from Himachal Pradesh (India), exhibited the least susceptibility to stem fly in three seasons. This source was not only resistant to the stem fly but also the least susceptible to yellow mosaic virus disease.
