Abstract:Resnik soyabean (PI534645), released in 1987, originated as a BC3F2 selection from the cross A31274 X L24. It has purple flowers, tawny pubescence, tan pods and dull yellow seeds with black hila. Resnik is in the same maturity group as A3127 (III) and was 5% higher yielding in Ohio tests. Compared with Harper, Resnik has 6% higher yield, 15% better seed quality score, 0.4% higher seed protein and better emergence at 25°C. Harper and Resnik are similar in height (84 cm), lodging, maturity, Fe chlorosis tolerance and shattering. Resnik is resistant to all 24 races of Phytophthora megasperma f.sp. glycinea except races 12, 16, 19, 20 and 25. It is moderately resistant to Cercospora kikuchii, soybean mosaic potyvirus, Corynebacterium [Curtobacterium] flaccumfaciens, Diaporthe phaseolorum and Microsphaera diffusa
