Abstract:Syngeneic anti-idiotypic monoclonal antibodies were generated to an anti-soybean mosaic virus (SMV) monoclonal antibody. One of these antibodies (1a) was used in place of SMV to capture rabbit polyclonal anti-SMV antibodies in an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). This demonstrated that an anti-idiotypic monoclonal antibody can be used as a standard in ELISA for detection of exotic pathogens when conditions preclude introduction of the pathogen into the environment
