Abstract:PI96983, which has the Rsv gene for resistance to soyabean mosaic virus and is resistant to peanut mottle virus (PMV), was crossed with the PMV susceptible cv. Essex and with York and Shore, which possess Rpv1 conditioning PMV resistance. The F3 plants were scored for resistance by inoculation of the primary leaves with PMV isolate V745/473, and F2 genotypes were determined from the data. PMV resistance in PI96983 was conditioned by one gene allelic to Rpv1.
