Abstract:Forty-one elite lines of soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) were screened for resistance to leaf miner (Aproaerema modicella Dev.) and stem fly (Melanagromyza sojae Zehnt.) under field conditions along with 5 released check varieties. 'NRC 41' soybean was found to be highly resistant to leaf miner. Eleven lines were highly resistant to stem fly. 'NRC 41', 'JS 92-22', 'JS (SH) 93-01' and the control variety 'MACS 124' showed resistance to both the insects under study, indicating their possible use as donors in breeding for leaf miner- and stem fly-resistant variety.
