Title:Effects of leaf maturity on the disease progress of Septoria brown spot in soybean

Abstract:Disease severity and pattern of progress of S. glycines differed with the cultivar. Susceptibility increased with plant age and leaf maturity in order from the primary leaf to the newly expanded leaf and appeared to be related to conidial germination on the leaf. Germination and germ tube elongation were more inhibited by diffusates from upper leaves than those from lower leaves and by those from a susceptible than a moderately resistant cutivar.
