Abstract:Three strs. of P. syringae pv. glycinea from Glycine wightii had toxin-producing characteristics suggesting the presence of phaseolotoxin; this was confirmed by a chemical examination of the toxin. Using pathogenicity and serology tests, and toxin characterization, these strs. were compared with 5 of P. syringae pv. glycinea from soybean and 4 of P. syringae pv. phaseolicola. The results showed that the 3 from G. wightii were pv. phaseolicola rather than pv. glycinea as previously recorded. Pathogenicity tests with various pv. phaseolicola strs. demonstrated that G. wightii is a host for this organism.
